I am extremely excited about where and what Ecojam might lead to - an online jamboree of green minded folk might just lead to the creative solutions that big global problems call for. As the Dhali Lama said "a thousand minds are greater than one great mind". The members of Ecojam can shape its future so who knows where it will be in a few years time.. About Matt Growing up in the seaside town of Lyme Regis, my heart and soul have been shaped by the sea. This naturally led to me studying Marine Geography at Cardiff University. I jumped at the chance to spend a year in Kenya during a work placement year and was lucky enough to undertake a internship with the United Nations Environment programme (UNEP) and volunteer for a marine conservation project. After graduating, I worked for a few years as a project officer for the UNEP Global International Water Assessment (www.giwa.net) and as a fellow for the UNEP Global Environment Outlook (GEO-4) report (http://www.unep.org/geo/geo4/). After a 6 month period working at the Environment Agency, I took up my current post as research assistant to Prof. Vala Ragnarsdottir at the University of Bristol. When I am not on Ecojam, I am doing research for an EU project about river basins (www.riskbase.info) or supporting activities working towards making Bristol a sustainable city. I am member of the Bristol Sustainability Network core group and Green Capital Momentum Group, and you will often see me at other events organised by Transition City Bristol, Chooseday, Green Arts Network, Bristol Environmental Technologies Sector (BETS), or The Converging World. If you see me - I am difficult to miss being 6ft 4 - come and say hi.
