DAY 5 (Tuesday 15th): Naomi Klein, inspirational discussions and tear gas

Inspirational Naomi Klein speech at Christiania followed by tear gas and police violence.

I've got to be super brief as there are lots of discussions/ meetings to attend before the day of mass action tomorrow (thousands of people are planning to converge outside of the UN conference centre in solidarity with all those countries and people who are currently being side-lined and ignored by the conference so far).

Last night there was a huge discussion held in the Christiania area of the city. The author Naomi Klein and several people representing indigenous people from the Global South spoke to a packed-out marquee where the atmosphere was electric. When I have more time I'll try and do a write-up of what was said because it was one of the most powerfully moving events I've attended.

The event was supposed to be followed by a party run by Climate Justice Action. Instead it was raided by the police and tear gas was used on all those inside. There is an article in The Times with all the facts and figures. This was a brutal scare-tactic by the police. It was massively heavy-handed but both of us and our friends are fine.

I'll write more about this and get my hands on some pics as soon as I can.

As far as today goes, there is still a lot of confusion about delegates eligible for entrance and the frustration amongst NGOs/ members of the press/ Global South delegates is still evident.

Klimaforum have just released a 'People's Declaration' which is to be given to delegates inside of the UN conference centre. Check the site for more details.

I'll write more soon.
