Bristol Green Doors update
This coming weekend, Bristol Green Doors will be at the Harbour Festival with a stall at the Village Fayre, a new addition to the Festival which will be setting up in the Amphitheatre.
The re-vamp of the Bristol Green Door's website has gone live and now has pictures – you can now check for updates and news at www.bristolgreendoors.org/updates/
White Design has come on board with Bristol Green Doors and will be opening their Bristol Passivhaus.
Garrad Hassan has also come on board with a very welcome sponsorship offer.
There are now 12 community neighbourhood hubs signed up to open over the course of the Bristol Green Doors weekend. Each one will have information about the local properties open in the neighbourhood, with a local map on display.
Green Doors met with the Energy Saving Trust who are really excited to be working on the project. They want to see a successful event held in Bristol and to help stimulate more widespread activity. They are also having on-going discussions with Bristol Green Door's new partner, The Great British Refurb campaign, which is keen to develop a follow-up event to the Bristol Green Doors weekend aimed at the building trade.
Last week’s welcome party went with a swing – more than 40 householders joined together in the shop space at Co-exist to find out more about Bristol Green Doors, get to know each other, and enjoy some spicy snacks from the Thali Cafe. Check out the pictures on the blog.
Pedal Wallahs are the latest partner to get involved in the project – this new company will soon be pedalling its fleet of rickshaws around Bristol and will be providing transport between the hubs and homes for the Bristol Green Doors weekend on 11th and 12th September. Pre-book your rickshaw ahead of the day by calling 0117 230 5080, or send an e-mail to info@pedalwalla.com.
Exciting plans for the Bristol Green Doors hub at Knowle West Media Centre – which will be running talks, tours and workshops from 12 - 4pm on Saturday 11th September. Sessions will include digital skills workshops, environmental short films, talks on Edible Landscapes, web-based energy metering and more, plus there will be tours of the building (the Centre is straw-clad and uses materials reclaimed from the now demolished doctor’s surgery where it used to be based).
