The discovery and exploitation of fossil fuel energy has transformed the human condition. Unfortunately, the resulting increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide is transforming our climate system, which we depend on to maintain our essential supplies of food and water. We need to decarbonise our energy supply whilst maintaining the global economic system and the "ecosystem services" provided by the planet. The problem has characteristics which make it especially hard to address.

HP Science Lectures are open to the public. A drinks party is held following the lecture to give the audience an opportunity to meet the speaker in person. Further information regarding the HP Science Lecture series can be found at the following URL address :- http://www.hpl.hp.com/news/lectures/.
Registration for the lecture IS A REQUIREMENT and places will be booked on a first come first served basis. Please contact me using the details below.
