Volunteer Gardeners and Project Development Workers - G.R.O.F.U.N.

Description:

G.R.O.F.U.N. is a project which begun in Bristol in the Winter of 2006. The aim of the scheme, funded currently by Awards for All, is to get people-of all ages-ouside: growing veg! The word stands for Growing real Organic Food in Urban Neighbourhoods.

It's all about building skills and strengthening community through a series of volunteer days each Spring across the city. After contributing 10 volunteer hours by gardening or delivering leaflets for example, the participant benefits from the G.R.O.F.U.N. volunteer team in their own garden, for their own fabulous 'make-over'.

Having shared the labour it makes sense to share the produce. So the harvest is transformed into a sociable shared meal for everyone!

Hopefully, our next bid to the Local Food Fund will be successful and we will be advertising one part time post on a 6 month contract for someone to help the founder with developing the business. We plan to become a Community Interest Company in the New Year with a traditional edible garden design and implementation business starting up soon and more of our schools growing workshops happening.

Volunteers will be given priority when paid roles are created.

If you have an interest in any of the things touched on above - have a look at the website www.grofun.org.uk > watch the vid here http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vyXJzjJnd88> and get in touch.

Everyone is welcome to be involved.
